»What we liked about Nina and Therése’s work was that it was actionable and realistic for the UN Women team. It was thought provoking and uplifting and raised the profile of women in a positive way, it didn’t focus on negatives. It centered around Arts Week and gave the UN Women team a tangible idea to go to galleries and partners to pitch. We also loved the tagline SHARE THE SPACE. Simple, Effective and Uplifting«
Raise funds to UN Women globally through the London based project HeforShe ArtsWeek.
Too often, there is only one picture: men’s picture. But gender equality is about men and women. Norms and stereotypes affect us both. Therefore, we have to share the space.
Share the Space
We launch the campaign with an experiment: What happens if female artists gets the challenge to paint the same situation that the historical men did in their most famous paintings? We get two sides to every story.
Art can contribute. Not only to the interest of an issue - it can raise the value of it. Therefore, we launch an auction with the new take on the historical art to raise funds to support UN Women programmes globally.
To make a change, we have to share the space.
Art influence culture and culture influence art.
People’s most valued arena is their private social media space. With the help of influencers, we invite people to post a picture of a woman that deserves the same space under #sharethespace
»This could be the next level of #metoo. A movement where men are not only observers - but also invited to participate. To make a change, we have to come together in a united shout out«
»Even if this campaign resulted in a bronze, we are most proud of how well our creative process worked out during an extreme time pressure of only 24 hours«
